FAT DISSOLVING INJECTIONS

TREATMENT TIME: 30 – 40 MINUTES
DOWNTIME: Significant swelling and tenderness 2-3 days. Minor swelling 2+ weeks

A novel non-surgical injectable treatment used to gradually dissolve double chin fat and reshape the jawline. The treatment is suitable for men and women and is often combined with dermal filler placed in the jawline and chin for more dramatic results.

A course of two or more treatments are recommended to achieve the best results.

Fat dissolving injections are minimally invasive and are performed by our experienced Doctors.

Surgical liposuction still remains the ‘gold standard’ for removing submental fat. Generally, double chin fat dissolving injections are for those looking for a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, or for those with smaller amounts of submental fat and no significant skin laxity.

Individual results will vary.
Results last for at least 4 years based on clinical data

We offer a TGA approved fat dissolving injection – this is a branded pharmaceutical treatment recommended for fat dissolving. This treatment is recommended in a course of 2-3 treatments timed 6-8 weeks apart to see good results. Most people require 2 vials per treatment but a small percentage of patients with larger submental areas will require an additional vial per treatment.

See pricing below.

The non branded compounded version is no longer available in our clinic.

Individual results will vary.

Australian law prevents us from naming the pharmaceuticals used for this treatment. Please contact the clinic for more information 02 40411514

Ageing, genetically predisposed and weight fluctuations can all influence submental fat causing ‘double chin’. The injections can be used to reduce fat in this area to reduce the appearance of a double chin. When combined with placement of dermal filler, these treatments are used to shape and ‘chisel’ the jawline and chin which is desirable for men and women. Research has shown 59% of women and 41% of men would like to improve their side profile by treating submental fat.

The injections contain a substance that occurs naturally in the body and aids the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Due to TGA restrictions we are unable to mention the active ingredient, however you can contact the clinic for more information.

When injected into neck fat below the chin, the injections disrupt the membranes of adipocytes (fat cells) leading to irreversible cell breakdown. The body then absorbs the fat through natural bodily processes. There is a local inflammatory response (swelling) which is largely resolved in approximately 6-9 weeks. New collagen is produced in the area helping to ‘plump’ and firm the skin.

Clients will require a face to face consultation with our Doctors to ensure they are suitable for the treatment. The client will be cleaned and a grid will then be applied (see below) which will allow the doctor to find the correct dosage. Local anaesthetic is injected to improve client comfort. The client is then injected with the fat dissolving solution. A local inflammatory response (swelling) will occur in the submental region. The treatment, including doctor’s consultation takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Gas will be offered to clients during the procedure for increased comfort.

Results may not be visible for up to 6-9 weeks, and may not be visible until after the second or third treatment. Skin continues to tighten after treatment even after swelling subsides.

Treatments are recommended 6-9 weeks apart.

Typically you can expect swelling, tenderness and redness in the treated area. This will persist for up to 6-9 weeks but will mostly resolve in 2 weeks. Numbness, firmness and palpable ‘lumps’ are common and expected. Less common side effects of treatment include bleeding, prolonged induration (areas of firmness), itching and paraesthesia (tingling). Rare side effects include nodules and transient neuropraxia of a facial nerve which causes smile asymmetry. Consumer information is available in clinic. All of our injectable treatments are performed by experienced Doctors.
