The MINT thread lift involves long biodegradable filaments coated in a stimulatory material (PDO – polydioxanone) that are inserted under the skin to lift and tighten facial tissue. The MINT thread lift is often compared to a surgical facelift, with less downtime. While the MINT thread lift offers temporary lifting of the skin, refreshing the facial appearance and redefining facial contours, the results are more subtle and do not compare to those of a surgical facelift, where the skin is permanently tightened.

Thread lifting techniques have progressed significantly over the last five years, allowing for better lifting of facial tissue. We offer an innovative thread lift treatment that combines the insertion of 12 to 16 MINT long PDO threads for a more dramatic lift. You will see immediate results, with continued improvement over 4 to 12 weeks.

The MINT thread lift is a moderately invasive medical procedure, and you should consider all available information before deciding to proceed with treatment, including understanding what is involved in the procedure and recovery time.

MINT thread lifts are performed exclusively by our experienced doctors. The longevity of results is 12 to 18 months; however, individual results will vary and depend on many factors, such as anatomy and lifestyle.

The MINT thread lift requires an in person or video consultation with our Doctor prior to the treatment being performed to determine if you are a suitable candidate. We do not charge for initial consultation. A $200 deposit is required to secure an appointment for treatment

Price includes consultation with Dr Jacob Alexander, placement of up to 16 x MINT (PDO) long threads, and follow up appointments as required with your treating Doctor. During your consultation, your doctor will advise you of how many threads are recommended to achieve the results you desire.

MINT (PDO) thread lift treatment is recommended for men and women with mild to moderate laxity (sagging) to the lower, mid face and neck (approximate age range of clients is 30-60 years). The Doctor will determine if you are the suitable candidate for the MINT thread lift on consultation

MINT thread lift is suitable for those looking to treat:

The MINT PDO thread lift does not offer the same results as a surgical facelift, and the risks, downtime, and post-treatment care are also significantly less than those of surgery. The MINT thread lift is suitable for clients who are not candidates for surgery or who do not want to undergo facial surgery. It offers a subtle lifting of skin tissue and a refreshing of facial contours and structure.

The MINT (PDO) thread lift is performed in-clinic by our experienced cosmetic doctors.

The procedure begins with the doctor injecting a local anesthetic into the treatment area to ensure you are comfortable throughout. You may feel some discomfort, pulling, and pressure as the doctor positions the threads under the skin.

Entry points are made using a needle attached to the thread (no incisions are required), and the thread is placed under the skin. Several threads are placed on each side of the face. The doctor pulls the threads tightly and ties them off. The knots from the threads are hidden underneath the skin, and the treatment is complete.

A pressure garment is worn after the procedure and should be worn as much as possible for the first 7 days post-procedure, or at least overnight.

Whilst the lift is immediate, gradual proliferation of collagen and fibrous tissue takes place over a period of 4-12 weeks, further tightening and and shaping the contours of the face.

The MINT PDO thread lift takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes to perform, depending on how many threads are placed and the areas being treated. We ask that you allow 2 hours for the full MINT lift procedure (12 to 16 threads). You will notice small entry points where the threads are placed within the skin tissue and small knots where the threads have been ‘fixed.’ These knots are concealed under the skin.

After the procedure, you may experience:

  • Bruising, which is typically minor but may be extensive
  • Moderate to severe swelling (3 to 7 days) and mild swelling for up to 2 weeks
  • Tenderness that will gradually improve over 1 to 2 weeks
  • Minor dimpling and irregularities in the skin tissue, common where the skin has been lifted (2 to 4 weeks); this will settle
  • A required support garment to be worn at night (provided)

You should refrain from high-impact physical activity for up to 3 months to avoid strain on the face. Low-impact activities such as weightlifting, walking, yoga, swimming, etc., are permitted. It is not harmful to exercise, but refraining from high-impact activities will help preserve the ‘lift’ while the skin tissue heals.

Unlike other threads available on the market, no ‘taping’ of the face is required, and you can resume most normal daily activities right away. However, keep in mind that you may feel fatigued for the first 1 to 2 days following your procedure and tender for up to 2 weeks after treatment, so it’s important to allow adequate recovery time.

The results of the MINT PDO thread lift last up to 12 to 18 months. Individual variation in the longevity of results exists, and results may be affected by ongoing aging and lifestyle factors such as smoking and weight loss
